Five for Friday

On Saturday we had a double date night to see Jurassic Park! It was super fun. A great summer movie, for sure. I thought this was a cute picture of us, so I just had to share!

Then on Sunday, we finally put up our curtains! Yay! It was pretty much the last thing we needed to do. I think the apartment looks a bit homier now. We're definitely ready to take a break from settling in and merging our homes. Dill, the cat, approves from his couch-throne.

I visited the main campus of the Atlanta Ballet Education Centre on Monday night. It was beautiful and huge, and even better, the class was a great fit for me. Unfortunately, it's further away for me than the Buckhead campus, but I'm sure I can make the trip over there when I have the chance.

I found a nearby Hobby Lobby on Tuesday. Actually, who am I kidding, Google found it for me. Anyways, as a result, I had a big crafting day on Wednesday. It was fun! My favorite new find was burlap scrapbooking paper. I also made some really cute tassels and write a tutorial on how to make them here.

So one very special advantage (among many, of course) to my Big Move is being closer to my sister! So even though I visited last week, I got to visit again this week! I baby sat Tate for Jessica (my sister) while she taught music at VBS. He now says my name! He calls me "Sssss". And I love it! He is such a sweet little boy-my sister does such a great job with him. She's 37 weeks pregnant now with baby Cora and we are all anticipating her arrival!

Happy weekend, everyone!

Five For Friday: A Little Catch Up

fiveforfriday2_thumb3_thumb4

I've been a busy girl, and therefore have completely abandoned the blog, the store, and the Facebook page. But, I have some things I hope to be creating and topics I hope to blog about this summer. For this week's linky party, I'll pick a few highlights from the past two weeks!

We had VBS at my church and I led the rising Kindergarten crew. They were so cute! But I don't think I'm cut out to be a PK or K teacher. I only had at most 12 kids, and they exhausted me! These little fellas did a great job of learning new Bible stories and songs.

During the day of VBS week, I packed and cleaned up my house. I moved out that Saturday and spent the next couple of days getting unpacked and moved in to Arman's place. I closed on my place a week later and now I've become obsessed with looking at real estate listings in our desirable neighborhoods here, even though we are not in a big hurry to buy something new!

I'm so excited about the person who is moving into my condo back in Athens: basically she is me. She is a 25 year old (like me when I bought  it) with a twin sister and a "912" phone number! As silly as it sounds, it makes me happy to know my little home is getting a sweet new owner.

We had our first celebrity selfie with comedian Jo Koy!

I have never painted pottery before, and I got to paint with some of the ladies of my church. It was super fun and relaxing. I've already figured out what I'll do differently when I do something like this again (which I hope is soon). I can't wait to go pick up the final product!

This week I was so happy to spend a few days with my sister. We did all the important things, like: entertaining her toddler Tate, going to Chic Fil A and ordering ice cream, wearing the same outfit for two days, watching RHONY, napping when the toddler napped, and the like. Some of her sweet friends threw a baby sprinkle for the new one (doesn't she look great in this picture?) and she got some precious little girl gifts!

Five For Friday: Welcome, Summer!

fiveforfriday2_thumb3_thumb4

What a fabulous week it has been! Today I am linking up again with Doodlebugs Teaching to share a little bit about my week. Things are kicking into high gear for the beginning of my summer, and I can't wait for what this summer will bring! Click on the icon above to go read some other posts from this Friday link up!

On last Friday, my teammates threw a beautiful bridal shower for me. We received our first gifts to help us begin setting up our home together. My Mom was able to come from out of town to attend as well! She enjoyed the shower, and then I put her to work helping me pack up my classroom! This shower was just another reminder of what a beautiful and generous work family I have been blessed to work with for the past 7 years.

Arman and I visited my sister and her family on Saturday and Sunday of last weekend. We had a fun time hanging out with Tate and baby sitting him while my sister and brother in law ran some errands. He is just a cutie patootie! I worked really hard on getting him to say "Stephie". To no avail. Oh well, maybe by the end of the summer...

I've gotten all packed up. And there is so much more to say in regards to this photo that I am just not quite ready to get collected into a coherent blog post. I hope to have some time to reflect very soon!

This is my summer reading collection. I visited Barnes & Noble today with some gift cards in hand. I tried to pick a good variety: fantasy, comedy, historical fiction, autobiography, and realistic fiction. Admittedly, I have already read The Good Earth a few times, but I really like it and thought this would be a good summer to do another rereading! I will be starting with The Joy Luck Club today.

I have a problem, I know. But I always like to start my summer with some crafting for school: redo lunch choices, repair/redo pencil cups, and other things. This year, I also updated my TEAM sign with some scrapbooking paper that looks a lot better than the paint job I had on there earlier. I give myself a week to work on these types of projects, and that's it until the week before preplanning! Anyways, I was very jealous of the welcome signs and refreshed bulletin boards I saw going up in some of my coworkers' rooms (it's usually ME doing those prep things, too!) on Wednesday, so I was totally motivated to come home and get all this done!

Have a great weekend, lovely readers!

Five For Friday: School's Out!

fiveforfriday2_thumb[3]
Time for a Friday link up where I proceed to brag about it being the end of the year! So, to my non-teacher readers that's just a warning!

Wedding guests received our Save The Dates this week! Aren't they fabulous? My amazing fiance designed them and we got them printed on Tiny Prints.

On Saturday, I had another recital with a beautifully choreographed pointe piece. I love this shot of our chaine turns from my stage director/ballet teacher/friend, Erika. We danced to Bach's Cello Suite No. 1. -Prelude.

I bought my kids gift cards for frozen yogurt as their gift from me this year. I usually buy books for them, but they had been book "shopping" in the library discard pile already and many of them made off pretty well. Also, I kind of procrastinated past the point of ordering from Scholastic, and you can't beat those prices!

This week, we had a box decorating party and following that, I started packing some things up. My kids loved decorating the boxes, which made it easier to see me start packing them, I think! Let's just hope it's not rainy when I'm trying to move or I will have magic marker dripping everywhere!

These few shots are from our last day of school. I love setting up a beautiful table for their awards. I also post their photo booth photos in the background, which are precious! Also, I love this sweet artwork I got from one of my students. They framed the one with my future name on it! I love seeing that!

Five for Friday

fiveforfriday2_thumb[3]

Hi readers and friends! Today I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for the Five for Friday linky party! I enjoy seeing what everyone is up to on a daily basis. It's been such a busy week in many ways. But, I think that will be the name of the game for the remainder of this school year.

On last Friday, I had a performance with my adult classes at DanceFX Athens. I danced in a contemporary number and a pointe piece. My sweet fiance supported me and came to see me dance! I'm so inspired by the amazing dancing that goes on at my studio, and it's a lot of fun to showcase the things we are learning! Click here to learn a little bit more about my journey as an adult learning to dance and how that has affected me as a teacher.

My little nephew had a birthday in March, but between a family wedding and Easter, his birthday party had to be postponed a few weeks! So, we celebrated this Saturday and we all had a grand time! He decided to sharpen and show off his walking skills for everyone, but refused to eat his cake (he only wanted to feed it to his Daddy). He's just so cute I can hardly stand it!

This is my "Free To A Good Home" pile. It looks like I am retiring, but I'll just be moving. There are lots of changes going on right now in my life, and I have recently accepted a new 2nd grade teaching job in the Atlanta area. So this Monday and Tuesday afternoons, I set a timer for 30  minutes of clean out time after school and I've made quite a dent in my stuff so far. This is going to be an even more bittersweet end of the year time than it usually is.

See my blog post here about how we have begun our study of life cycles this year! The kids are not only growing their own plants, but are engaging in some inquiry and changing up variables to examine how it will affect a growing plant.
